Backbend Workshop

Let the HEART rise and open!  Backbends are grace strength and love, as the heart leads your asana to new ground.  Backbends are present in many of our classes.  They appear in standing postures, aid in inversions and roll out in wheels.  Learning the proper mechanics of how the body arrives into the Backbend is an essential part of expanding your yoga practice.

A Vinyasa warm up accompanied with pranayama sequences will set you up for a successful lesson.

Join Instructor Shanna as she opens your heart & mind to the Backbend!

Winter Solstice Full Moon Sound Meditation

You are cordially invited to attend the final highly anticipated sound healing event of 2018. Welcoming winter, with restorative yoga and sound healing. This practice is designed to cultivate a deep sense of relaxation, calming the parasympathetic nervous system and creating homeostasis throughout the body. Taking time to pause, rest and heal is necessary to maintain a healthy quality of life. Kemiko will lead restorative yoga and be joined by guest sound healer April J. Taylor. This practice is suitable for all levels and abilities. $35

About April:
April Taylor is passionate about the power of sound and she is guided by a mission committed to creating healthy, balanced, meditating people who embrace justice and promote healthy communities. In her sound therapy sessions, April creates peaceful conditions to reduce stress, promote deep relaxation and to induce overall levels of inner-harmony and self-Soul-alignment. A life-long learner, April initially sought sound training to reduce stress and lessen physical discomfort. Consequently, having a desire to further understand the indigenous approaches of sound harmonics, she has deepened her studies delving into the science of sound via rigorous practicums on the neuro-acoustics of sound. As a result, her sound repertoire has expanded to embrace the Gong as a focal point of her practice. April has facilitated sound meditations at the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, the Phoenix & Dragon Bookstore, the Natural Mystic Fair, Sevananda Natural Foods Market, Ahimki Wellness Center, the Dekalb County Jail and on WRFG 89.3 radio. She has a growing client base who benefit from her unique private/groups sessions.

Wood Element Liver & Gallbladder Series

Wood Element Liver & Gallbladder Series

Following Traditional Chinese Medicine, the spring season is associated with the wood element. It's a time for rebirth, new growth, and renewal. With an increase in activity levels, energy, comes an increase in creativity and determination. In the same way we "spring clean" our external environment, Chinese Medicine believes that this time of year we also "spring clean" our internal environment. The organ bodies associated with the wood element are the liver and gallbladder, both play important roles in the digestive system. It's believed that when the wood element is out of balance its manifested as anger, frustration, and irritability whereas when it is in harmony, it's manifested as compassion, kindness, and acceptance.

This sequence is designed to target both the liver and gallbladder meridians with postures that elongate, compress, and trace the meridian lines up the body with the intention of balancing adverse manifestations of disharmony, stoking the digestive organs, and igniting creativity.
